Announcement of the Canon EOS 70D

Canon has announced the upcoming release of the Canon EOS 70D, upgrade its high-end DSLR to the general public. Three years after the 60D, it loads the latest innovations from Canon already on the latest autofocus and a "double-pixel" promising to improve the video experience.

New AF system optimized for video

Canon EOS 70D introduces a new "Dual AF CMOS Pixel" sensor, APS-C and covering 20 Mpixels but with 40 million photodiodes. Each microlens to the surface of the sensor is thus associated with two photodiodes which are used to make a focus by the phase detection of substantially all of the sensor.

Canon camera EOS 70D will be launched towards the end of August in France at a suggested retail price of € 1,100 naked € 1,250 with the EF-S 18-55 mm f / 3.5 -5.6 IS STM or € 1,450 with EF-S 18-135 mm f / 3,5-5,6 IS STM and is placed in direct competition with the Nikon D7100 sold naked around € 1,150.
